Tomorrow Lives Today

Brody Rodriguez is a former pro skateboarder because he had broken his back almost 3 years prior. His mom calls to tell him she and his father have been looking over Brody’s fiances and even with his endorsement deals and contest wins. Because of his spending habits, he will run out of money before he turns 30. He realizes he will be 30 in 18 months as she tells him this.

She also tells him he needs to seek a job, but he brushes it off and tells her not to worry and asks her to tell his dad not to worry.

Brody does not care much about money. He would rather waste it on partying and super burritos. when he is not watching TV or sleeping, he is spending time with his friend Anoop, one of the few friends he has.

One day, his estranged maternal grandfather dies and leaves him an enormous wardrobe that contains more questions than answers. Who was Brody’s grandfather? Why does Brody’s mom never discuss him? Why did he give Brody the wardrobe? What are going to be the consequences of what he learns about his past and present? What is right and wrong, good and bad? Is there a gray area?

The wardrobe contains a device that endangers Brody but also provides him with insight and purpose. Partly because of the device, he has been assigned a job that he must fulfill while safeguarding his family from individuals who covet the wardrobe’s contents and they are willing to go to any lengths to get it; its contents help and hinder Brody.

This book has time travel, time jumps, questions about morality and destiny vs. fate. there is a twist near the end of the book that made me do a double take. It came out of nowhere in the best way. This is a debut novel, so the few editing and continuity issues are to be expected. I enjoyed and recommend this novel and look forward to reading more from the author.

My thanks go out to W.O. Torres for providing me with a copy of this book for an honest review.
